Version 13 is over 2 years old now, however version 14 will be released early next year.

What is the exact current version you have? Movie Studio 13 or Movie Studio Platinum 13? The Suite contains Movie Studio Platinum There is something you can do which may fix your current version. Do a full program reset. Turn Movie Studio Off. Window will pop up. Select Delete Cache and Yes.

This will restore program to Factory Default Settings. Before you try to upgrade to the Suite, you need to make sure Movie Studio Platinum 13 is going to work for you. Download the free trial just for Movie Studio Platinum 13 - don't worry about the Suite until you get this version working properly. If the program is still crashing after doing the reset, then you have something majorly wrong with your program. More than likely your Windows Registry is corrupted and that is why it is not opening.

They are different programs. When you download any program, from any website, your web browser should ask where you want to save the file to. The default folder is normally your Downloads Folder. You can use Windows Search function to find files on your computer.

Search "Movie Studio" and you will see a list of different files. If you really want to get Movie Studio 13 working again, my best suggestion is that you do a Clean Install. Thanks: For the last 12 months, Sony Creative Software were still showing account details for some customers, however that 12 month transition period has no finished and Sony has nothing to do with Vegas anymore.

You will likely find that that in order for Sony not to lag, which was my biggest problem, you cannot have the preview window in it's best setting you have to maintain it at 'Preview Auto ' which means that the footage will be pixelated to an extent on the preview.

There are a ton of videos and forums discussing the lagging issues online which of course you can look at to solve your own issues with lagging if you are presented with them, however be warned that a lot of these pertain to Sony Vegas 12 more so than How I solved my issue with by going onto 'Properties' then under the 'Full-resolution rendering quality' go for the option 'Draft' while also maintaining 'Preview Auto ' for the preview window it has solved all my lagging issues with Sony and the after-rendered video was in perfect condition with no lagging or pixelation.

Though I do believe that it is ridiculous that while Sony Vegas 11 could maintain a high-quality preview window with no lagging issues immediately upon installing that Sony Vegas 13 requires several alterations depending on your situation despite being an 'upgrade'. However upon getting it working it's not been too bad, if you need to go for this program because of installing Windows 10 or whatever reason it is not a bad option just keep in mind to set it to your liking quickly.
